Thousands of people enjoyed the Crystal Lake centennial kick off festivities held at Three Oaks Recreation Area. It featured numerous bands, food and drink, a carnival and fireworks. Local music favorites Modern Day Romeos and Libido Funk Circus were headliner acts in the main stage tent. Attendees both young and old were able to meet and get their photograph taken with several entertainers. Wizzo and Cookie the clown, featured on the long-running local WGN TV Bozo Show, and Star Wars characters from the 501st Garrison were some of the crowd favorites.
Area youth attended events on the beach ranging from a Hip Hop dance class, magician, and musicians. A kite building workshop and kite flying demonstration was featured too.
The time lapse video contains 1328 images captured over eight days. It features setup of the carnival, the festival, all the way through take down of the tents. Even the kite flying demonstration can be seen in the sky.
I attended the dedication ceremony of Crystal Lake’s new park Three Oaks Recreation Area. The 462 acre recreation area opened at 6:30AM on October 1, 2010.
After photographing the ceremony I spent a few hours exploring and taking photos around the site.
